A történelem során a művészet inspirálóan hatott a tudomány és a gazdaság fejlődésére. Nincs rá okunk, hogy a jelenben más kapcsolatot tételezzünk fel. Ezért meglátásunk szerint korunk művészetét és művészeit ugyanúgy ismerni, szeretni és tisztelni érdemes, mint a más területeken alkotókat. Értelmezésünkben a művészet képes arra, hogy a jövőbe vezető úton megerősítéssel, megújítással vagy tagadással összekösse a jelent a múlttal; emellett kultúránk eredetének és történelmünknek a sajátos megismertetésén túl annak lelki megértéséhez, érzelmi elsajátításához is közelebb visz. Mindezzel pedig olyan empátiához segít eljutni, ami a jelen kor kihívásaiban is utat mutathat. Mi, mint a gyűjtemény tematikáját meghatározó, tulajdonos házaspár, elkötelezettek lévén a műveltség és a kultúra terjesztése iránt, így értelmeztük mecénási szerepünket. Közéleti, gazdasági, oktatási, tudományos és egyházi tevékenységeink mellett ezért invitáltunk 12 neves művészt az Evangélium 21 kortárs művészeti gyűjtemény létrehozásának gondolati és lelki útkeresésére. A zsidó-keresztyén kultúra alapja a Biblia, amely a kiválasztott nép történetének, majd Jézus életének összefoglalásával generációk végtelen sorának nyújt iránymutatást. Az Evangélium 21 kortárs művészeti gyűjtemény is a Bibliát követi, amikor 12 egységben mutatja be Jézus életének, cselekedeteinek, a megváltáshoz vezető útjának főbb egységeit.
Az egybegyűjtött alkotások megismerése hasznos a kultúra- és művészettörténet iránt érdeklődőknek, hiszen egy egységes, de különféle látószögeket is felkínáló rendszerben találkozhatnak azon történeti eseményekkel, amelyek nélkül érzelemvilágunk, gondolkodásunk és a művészet fejlődése egyaránt értelmezhetetlen lenne. A gyűjtemény felfedezése értékes a keresztyén kultúra és ökumené iránt érdeklődőknek is, hiszen nemcsak a maga teljességében állítja eléjük Jézus életét és munkásságát, ahogy azt az evangéliumokból megismerhettük, hanem a művészet eszközei a megközelítések sokféleségével nyitnak újabb és újabb ajtókat, amelyeken át a gondolat beléphet ebbe az evangéliumi világba.A műalkotások elmélyült tanulmányozása fontos lehet a keresztyén vallásukat gyakorlóknak, hiszen az egyes elemek kiemelése, új szempontú megjelenítése a meditáció és átélés számára is lehetőségeket tár fel. És végül az Evangélium 21 tanulságos lehet a más vallások és meggyőződések követőinek is, hiszen a sokféle megértésnek és elfogadásnak a krisztusi szeretet egységében való felmutatása a kölcsönös tiszteletre és a toleranciára törekvés szolgálója is. Célunk, hogy a gyűjtemény minél több helyen való bemutatásával a lehető legtöbb embertársunk számára megismerhetővé, újra – vagy akár először – elgondolkodtatóvá és átélhetővé tegyük keresztyén kultúránk és hitünk alapjait. Egyúttal hangsúlyozzuk azt a szilárd meggyőződésünket, hogy a krisztusi életmű a 21. század művészetében is otthon van, annak teremtő része.A kiállítás anyagának létrehozásában vállalt munkájukért köszönetet mondunk a művészeknek és a kurátornak. Throughout history, art has inspired the development of science and economy. There is no reason to assume a different relationship in the present. Therefore, we believe that the art and artists of our time should be known, loved and respected in the same way as artists from other fields. In our understanding, art has the capacity to connect the present with the past, by affirming, renewing or denying it, on the way to the future; it also brings us closer to a spiritual understanding and emotional appropriation of our culture, in addition to a specific knowledge of its origins and history. And in doing so, it helps us to develop an empathy that can guide us through the challenges of our time. We, as the couple who own the collection, are committed to the dissemination of culture and literacy, and this is how we have interpreted our role as patrons. This is why, in addition to our public, economic, educational, scientific and ecclesiastical activities, we have invited 12 renowned artists to take part in the intellectual and spiritual journey of creating the Gospel 21 contemporary art collection. Judeo-Christian culture is based on the Bible, which has guided endless generations by summarising the history of the chosen people and then the life of Jesus. Gospel 21, a contemporary art collection, also follows the Bible in presenting in 12 units the main units of Jesus’ life, his actions, his journey to salvation.
The collected works are useful for those interested in cultural and art history, as they provide a unified but diverse perspective on the historical events that have shaped our emotions, our thinking and the development of art. The discovery of the collection is also of value to those interested in Christian culture and ecumenism, since it not only presents the life and work of Jesus in its entirety, as we have come to know it from the Gospels, but also the tools of art, with their diversity of approaches, open new doors through which thought can enter this evangelical world. The in-depth study of works of art can be important for practitioners of the Christian faith, as the highlighting and new perspectives on certain elements open up possibilities for meditation and experience. And finally, Gospel 21 can also be instructive for followers of other religions and beliefs, since the demonstration of diverse understanding and acceptance in the unity of Christian love is also a servant of mutual respect and tolerance. Our aim is to make the foundations of our Christian culture and faith accessible, reflective and experiential for as many of our fellow human beings as possible, by presenting the collection in as many places as possible. At the same time, we emphasize our firm conviction that the work of Christ is also at home in the art of the 21st century, and is a creative part of it.We thank the artists and the curator for their work in creating the material for the exhibition.
