3. A tanítványok – The disciples

Jézus elmegy a halászok, Péter és András, Jakab és János mellett. Rájuk tekint, és azt mondja: „Kövessetek engem! Én emberek halászaivá teszlek titeket!” Azok még alig ismerik őt. Mégis szinte megbabonázva felkelnek, boldogan mindent otthagynak.
Olyasmit élnek át, amiről József Attila ezt írta: „Reám néztél s én mindent elejtettem. / Meghallgattál és elakadt szavam.” Boldogan ejtenek ki mindent a kezükből. Ettől kezdve akárhová mennek, valójában csak állnak ott földbe gyökerezett lábakkal. Akármit néznek, valójában őt látják. Meghódított emberek.
Jézus nem valamit akart tőlük, hanem őket akarta. Isten nem eszközként használja az embert, mint valamiféle szerszámot a mester, hanem társaként szeret és szólít meg.

Jesus goes with the fishermen, Peter and Andrew, James and John. He looks at them and says, „Follow me. I will make you fishers of men.” They hardly know him yet. Yet they get up almost bewitched, happy to leave everything behind.

They experience what Attila József wrote about: „You looked at me and I dropped everything. / You listened to me and my words stopped.” They happily drop everything. From then on, wherever they go, they are really just standing there with their feet in the ground. Whatever they look at, they really see him. They are conquered people.
Jesus didn’t want something from them, he wanted them. God does not use man as a tool, as some kind of tool of the master, but as a companion, loving and calling him.
