The ‘Committed Citizen’ cheerful donor <\/strong>

Recently, Levente Kov\u00e1cs, a Reformed presbyter, received the Committed Citizen award from Forbes magazine and Bridge Budapest. This independent and prestigious award is given to individuals who, from their reasonably amassed private wealth, regularly and significantly contribute, and whose support has led to the realization of impactful programs. In the justification for the award, they highlighted Kov\u00e1cs Levente’s conceived and funded art collection called „Evangelium21,” which presents the life and impact of Jesus through the interpretations of contemporary Hungarian artists. The highly influential collection’s inaugural exhibition took place at the Modem in Debrecen (as reported by the Reform\u00e1tusok Lapja), and the next exhibition will open in March in Rome.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Levente Kov\u00e1cs is also known as a regular church donor. Among other contributions, he helped Papal students to participate in a six-month study trip to the United States, donated communion chalices and communion tables to needy congregations, supported mathematics competitions in Reformed schools, and initiated the Budapest Protestant Collegium.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

As the Secretary General of the Hungarian Banking Association, he oversees the „Good Deed Bank” project, which annually assists in the recovery of patients with three thousand blood donors. During the pandemic, it provided two thousand students with computer equipment, and in the past year, it planted over a hundred thousand trees. Through his personal involvement, several newly established church institutions were equipped with furniture from former bank headquarters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since organizing the summer vacations for disabled children at the loving home in \u0150rbotty\u00e1n, volunteering for the Hungarian Reformed Church has become an integral part of Levente Kov\u00e1cs’s life, which he supplements with at least a tenth of his total income. Considering that in Hungary today there are far more individuals in need of support than donors, he views personal example and giving from one’s own resources as Christian duties. He determines the current donation target based on his own experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
